Poll Time (3/4/17)

We have three new poll questions on our website for readers to consider for the next two weeks and they are the following;

  1. Should the Gun Laws be loosened?
  2. Should the ERC establish a Recycling program ASAP?
  3. Do we need more Police Officers in Deniliquin?

The first question is one that has been debated within DNS for some time, there are different opinions on the subject but we feel the question being asked has plenty of possibilities to suit as many people as possible.

We ask that people do not make thoughts personal in written comments, all have a right to an opinion but everyone also has the right to not be belittled or insulted because of their opinion.

It should be noted that all yes votes would follow the current criteria concerning being allowed to own certain guns (criminal record checks, mental health checks etc.)

Multiple choice is available for this question in case a person agrees to two or three of the four ‘Yes’ proposals and doesn’t want to say yes to all four or answer ‘No’ to the question.

The second question is to ask if a recycling program should be established ASAP to take advantage of Deniliquin’s mass of recyclable material as well as the material scattered throughout the ERC.

The third question is asking if Deniliquin needs more Police Officers, there are concerns that crime is growing and we want to know if people believe that more Police are needed to ensure the safety of residents as well as enforcing the law (rubbish dumping, parking where you are not supposed to, other laws).

Poll questions are on the right hand side of this website and are scheduled to be changed on April 17.

Deni Speaks (3/4/17)

In this edition of Deni Speaks, we asked readers three questions on our website and we can now discuss the outcome of the voting.

Questions asked

1.  Is Rubbish Dumping becoming more widespread?
2. Are Drugs becoming a problem locally?
3. Are you happy with location Radio Station playlists?

Results

79% of voters believe that rubbish dumping is becoming widespread, this question was asked after people reported rubbish along the banks of the Edward River in amounts that were concerning.

99% of voters believe that drugs are becoming a problem locally, this question was asked after reports that needles were being found on the ground outside Deniliquin Plaza and the fact the drug problem was becoming a common conversation topic.

89% of voters have said that they are not happy with local radio station playlists, this was asked after frequent complaints about radio playlists and so it was decided to see if it was widely thought of or not.

Conclusion

Rubbish dumping is a problem in every town and city and whilst it can never be stopped, it can be limited through prevention, clean up of rubbish and the enforcement of laws.

Drugs are a problem and we as a society must find a solution, it should be noted that any solution decided on by lawmakers will probably be met with controversy.

With the majority of people unhappy with radio playlists perhaps it is time for The Edge and 2QN to go out into the streets with clipboard in hand and find out exactly what listeners want to hear after all the more listeners there are equals the more sponsors stations will get.

Thank you for voting and reading Deni Speaks, we will be back with a new edition soon.

EDIT 16/4/17: Hello readers from Mediaspy.org, we hope you found the radio results interesting.

Shopping revolution coming to Deni

There are two things that are wrong with Shopping Trolley’s, the first is that they are at times hard to steer and the second is that people dump them everywhere when they take them out of the shopping centres and their car parks.

A couple of the nations largest Supermarket chains have teamed up with local engineering firms to come up with a new trolley and it is called the ES-1.

The ES-1 has been made like no other trolley has been made before as they are equipped with a transponder, sensors, a new wheel and steering design and batteries that will give shoppers an interesting experience.

The new wheel design is one that promises to eliminate the annoying problem of the trolleys deciding to go wherever they want causing shoppers to struggle keeping control of them.

Users can now push their trolleys along and move a small adjustable joystick at the centre of the handle bar to turn their trolley as far left or right as they need to before straightening back up for the next aisle.

A transponder is used to make sure that Trolleys are able to be found quickly and easily as the high flow of shoppers requires a steady amount of trolleys at places like Deniliquin Plaza.

Readers may wonder where these new trolleys will be stored since they can no longer fit in each other and into a conventional trolley bay, the empty shop between The Reject Shop and Bakers Delight is being looked at being converted into a high tech trolley centre and will be properly staffed to ensure quality and security.

There is one item of controversy in the design of the ES-1, The ES-1 delivers a two punch system of the wheels being restricted in movement and the ES-1 battery electrifies the trolley (not including child section) that makes users very uneasy about wheeling the ES-1 any further than where management wants the trolleys to be in.

The above is achieved by lining the boundaries of places like Deniliquin Plaza with sensors and when an ES-1 is detected to have passed the boundary, a signal is sent and the security measures are taken, this action is like the wheel locking trolley measure at Waterford Plaza in Waterford West, QLD.

These trolleys are expensive to make and costs will be passed on the consumer to keep them operational but if these new trolleys are a success then there is no doubt supermarkets across Australia will be lining up to add this electrifying new type of trolley to their Supermarkets.

Thank you for reading this April Fools Day edition, see you next year.

They’re going where?

A popular Deniliquin Football team is reportedly planning to pack up their things and leave town in 2019.

Sources around town indicate that the team is looking to go to the pristine pastures of Warragoon.

But where on Earth is Warragoon? Warragoon is 14km South West of Blighty and has a population of around 302 people and a lot more Cows and Sheep.

So why are they moving in 2019? It is because there is currently not much out there in Warragoon apart from some nice farms and a few shops and so the departing team will have to get to work making a nice, green and smooth Oval and some nice Netball Courts plus all the amenities needed for a club to exist and thrive at.

The team on the move is expected to keep their nickname though sources have said that there are suggestions for the team to be nicknamed the Mokangers, the Goons or the Uppers with all three nicknames based on the names of roads around the small area.

The club could also be called names like the Warragoon Sheep, the Warragoon Shearers or the Warragoon Cows and below are how the names may look like in the Rovers and Rams colours.

We wish the departing team all the success in the world and thank them for their decades of sporting memories.

The Deni Pokémon Wrap (28/3/17)

Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go Deniliquin is steady on 179 members and has had no new posts since November 24.

Fan Made Pokémon Games

Tired of the current Pokémon games? People are making their own Pokémon games for people to play.

Many consider the best fan made game to be Pokémon Ethereal Gates which is currently a demo and whilst it doesn’t appear the game has been worked on in a year though, a Tweet in late February indicates there is still life in the game.

The video links below are reviews of several Pokémon Fan Games that may be worth searching for.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals are still making progress on Pokémon Shuffle though it is getting harder to get somewhere.

As you know our two regular gamers Boony and Tiggy are racing each other on the mobile version of the game with Tiggy forging ahead of Boony who is up to Stage 195 whilst Tiggy has moved up one stage to Stage 230 and we will continue to follow the race as it progresses.

Stage 230 has the Fighting Pokémon Medicham as the challenge whilst Stage 195 has the Steel Pokémon Doublade.

Boony has caught back up to Tiggy on the Pokémon count with Tiggy with both having caught 200 Pokémon.
