Poll Time (9/8/17)

August 9 2017

We are back with four new questions that hopefully will be of interest, It is not easy coming up with questions every fortnight as we soon run out of topics but we think these new four are alright.

Does Deniliquin Plaza need more Cameras?

We asked this question in December 2016 and 62% of voters said no but as you may of seen in Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down groups cars are still getting hit on a regular basis with the driver usually getting away with it.

As seven months have gone by and with the reports ongoing, it was time to ask the question again to see which way the pendulum swings.

What is your favourite local event?

Out of the Cruising Nationals, Fishing Classic, Ute Muster and Deniliquin Show, which is your favourite local event? If there is an event you want added, let us know.

Are you looking forward to the 2017 Football/Netball Finals?

Finals are just around the corner and the Rams and the Rovers have teams heading for Finals action, are you looking forward to it? (answer doesn’t have to be Rams and Rovers specific).

Have you gotten used to a building between Town Hall and The Globe?

This question may seem odd but after twenty plus years looking at a fence, it may be a little strange seeing a building there again especially those who haven’t been in town for a couple of years.

Polls close on Tuesday August 22 and votes can be made on the right hand side (PC/Mac) and on the bottom for mobile users.

Images of Deniliquin

August 9 2017

At one time, tourists could pick up a postcard that looked like an envelope and send to their friends and loved ones a series of printed images of Deniliquin.

We are very pleased to be able to show you some of the images from the postcard series, we do apologise if some images appear wonky but that is due to all images being attached to each other limiting the ability to straighten them up.

As you have seen, Deniliquin has changed quite a lot since these pictures were taken, we have a different bridge, the Tattersall’s Hotel and Royal Hotel (end of picture 7) are gone, the War Memorial is different now and there are different shops, different cars and another place to swim now too.

We hope you have enjoyed taking a look at these images and hope that they have brought back memories or have brought interest and curiosity to what was and what will be coming in the future.

Deni Speaks (7/8/17)

August 8 2017

For the last two weeks, we ran four polls on our website with questions on Radio, Sport, Sports Reporting and Major Projects Program

Questions asked

Sports Talk in Spring/Summer Should…..
If Deniliquin could get a third radio station, you’d want to hear…..
Was the Major Projects Program cash spread out right?
Deniliquin’s favourite local sport is…….?

Results

Sports Talk in Spring/Summer Should…..

Report on other sports – 96%
Take a break until Autumn – 4%

If Deniliquin could get a third radio station, you’d want to hear…..

Anything that doesn’t repeat often – 47%
Modern Rock Music – 44%
Modern Pop Music  – 6%
Country Music – 3%

Was the Major Projects Program cash spread out right?

Yes – 60%
No – 40%

Deniliquin’s favourite local sport is….?

Aussie Rules – 45%
Fishing – 16%
Netball – 14%
Rugby League – 7%
Rugby Union – 5%
Other – 5%
Soccer – 2%
Cycling – 2%
Basketball – 2%
Shooting – 2%

Conclusion

The overwhelming majority thinks Sports Talk should expand over Spring/Summer, we are open to suggestions on that front.

Repeating music is a major source of unhappiness from local radio listeners, they also want more Modern Rock music in the music, these are points anybody wanting to make a local station should take aboard in their quest for popularity, current stations 102.5 and 2QN may also take down notes on poll results now that ACE Radio has become major shareholders of both stations.

Just over half the voters think the Major Projects Program spread its cash rightly, it will be interesting to know from the ‘No’ camp why they disagree it could be for reasons like over half the cash went to Deniliquin or went to local spots that don’t need it etc.

Aussie Rules grabbed just under half the votes to be Deniliquin’s favourite local sport but Fishing’s second place finish is interesting and it would be quite something to revisit in several months time and see if it is still second and if it grabs a bigger share of the vote.

New poll questions will be available tomorrow, if anyone has sensible questions that want polled please let us know.

Coach House given Three Stars

August 7 2017

Best World Hotels has listed the Coach House as three star accommodation in their most recent video on Deniliquin’s Hotels/Motels.

The 1 minute 46 second video was made in June with the video showing a montage of photos whilst telling viewers in writing all about what the Coach House has to offer.

Everything that is written in the video ticker is also written in the video description which is good for those who can’t get all the information in the brief time it is displayed.

The downside of the video is that the photos don’t come out in sharp quality but overall the video is informative and should be helpful to any people looking up accommodation online.

Best World Hotels have also made videos on Rivina Motel, Centrepoint Motel, Country Club Motor Inn, Big4, Riverview Motel, Settlement Motor Inn and Deniliquin Motel over the last six months.
