Bimbella Beef now offers Fruit and Veg

For those who don’t know, Bimbella Beef has added Fruit & Veg to their range of choices and residents will be happy to know the produce is from nearby sources.

Their Seedless Watermelon come from Blighty and as it is seedless there is no need to constantly scoop or spit out seeds.

Their Clingstone Peaches come from Cobram and they also offer Cauliflower which is a popular choice to put on the side of your plate.

The benefit of nearby produce is that it is considered better compared to some places in the world that gets food from afar and hold it for a lengthy period of time killing off freshness, taste and the amount of time you got to use it by.

Deniliquin has been looking for a good Fruit & Veg source outside the Supermarkets for some time and perhaps this is the solution for shoppers who can now get their fix of nutritious meat, get some food for their pets and now get some Fruit & Veg too.

To keep up to date on all the latest specials and more, check out their Facebook page whose link is at the top of this story.

Thoughts on last week

As many readers know, people throughout town are upset by what happened last week on the Murray River.

The death of anyone is always sad, the death of a child is horrifying because they only got a brief taste of the joys life can bring and it never makes sense why they get denied the chance while people like us have gotten to experience what we’ve experienced.

There is no greater horror than knowing that a life was deliberately taken away and it makes people angry and rightfully so, nobody has the right to play god and nobody has the right to be the devil.

Being a news blog, we really can’t say much because we don’t want to inadvertently ruin prosecution and we don’t want to take advantage of tragedy by trumpeting our thoughts that is why there is no promotion of these thoughts.

But we do say to readers that we must patiently wait for all facts to come out and they will as time goes by and we cannot risk muddying the waters with stories about the accused and then we must let the justice system do its job and hope for the right outcome to be delivered by those who decide fates of those who are accused of crimes every day.

Lessons will be learned and laws will be changed to try prevent what happened from happening again but there always be the thought the price of safety and security for children is already too high.

Be kind to each other and respect life, we only get it once and everyone should get the same chance of enjoying it, free from the chance of somebody taking it away by evil acts, pure selfishness or stupidity.

The downside of Control

Wild Rabbits have been a problem in Australia for centuries with fences and myxomatosis used to try and combat their rapid population growth and their rapid ability to cause damage to farmland and local wildlife.

Now there is a new virus in town doing battle against them and it is called the K5 strain of the calicivirus or otherwise known as Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV).

There is already RHDVa and RHDV2 out there killing rabbits both wild and domestic and there are fears that K5 will do the very same thing.

The following is recommended to all owners of domestic rabbits

– Keep bunnies indoors
– Invest in fly spray for mosquitoes and spray your flyscreens
– Buy F10 veterinary science online to disinfect rabbit houses and your floors.
– Do not let people walk around your house in shoes.
– Cover cages with netting mesh, this can be brought from Bunnings.
– DO NOT let your rabbits go outside or run on grass.
– Keep all dogs and cats away from your bunnies as can they transfer the virus ie. If mosquitoes poo on their fur.

Lastly make sure they are vaccinated to prevent them from dying from such a virus and if you want the K5 strain from being used, please visit the petition on this link.

Support shown for Nurses again

A year ago this week, Deniliquin was coloured blue in support of local nurses and once again people will be seeing blue on mailboxes and other locations to show their support one year on.

The jobs that Nurses do are well appreciated and respected by the public although it can be said that those who make up all the terms and conditions like pay, working hours and standard of equipment may not part of that group as evidenced last year when they changed things.

Visitors to Keep DENI BLUE may of noticed a post about 31/4/31 that is starting tomorrow (March 1), it was also done last year and it is hoped that people will be curious about this new effort and perhaps participate in some way.

Last year was a great effort, the campaign and others showed that Deniliquin residents care about a variety of issues and always seek to do something about it.

The Deni Pokémon Wrap (28/2/17)

Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go Deniliquin is steady on 179 members and has no new posts since November 24.

Generation 2 Pokémon have been spotted throughout town with Pokémon like Natu, Granbull and Murkrow encountered and caught by local gamers.

Pokémon Go is considered to still be a work in progress by gamers and this has hurt the long term popularity of the game but it is also considered to be a good game to play when you are out and about and want something to do in quiet moments.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals are still making progress on Pokémon Shuffle though it is getting harder to get somewhere.

As you know our two regular gamers Boony and Tiggy are racing each other on the mobile version of the game but have stalled in recent weeks with Boony up to Stage 192 and Tiggy has moved up to Stage 225 and we will continue to follow the race as it progresses.

Stage 225 has the Steel Pokémon Klink as the challenge whilst Stage 192 has the Normal Pokémon Lickilicky.

Tiggy has moved ahead of Boony on the Pokémon count with Tiggy leading 199 Pokémon to 198.

We will be back next fortnight with a new edition of The Deni Pokémon Wrap.
