DNS’s Christmas Playlist

Christmas is just a few short days away and we offer readers a playlist of songs that may or may not make their Christmas playlists.

These songs are by a variety of artists, some are world famous like Elvis and some are making their way through the music world and you may be impressed enough by what you saw to see more of their recordings.

We hope you will enjoy what is below and have a great Christmas.

Christmas 2016 Weather

Christmas 2016 is shaping up to be warmer than last year according to Weatherzone’s forecast as of late December 22.

Christmas Eve is currently in line to be mostly sunny and reach 38 degrees with a 50% chance of rain whilst Christmas Day is expected to be sunny with a expected maximum temperature of 39 degrees.

If it gets to 39 degrees, it will be five degrees hotter than last year and it will be more of the same on Boxing Day  with 40 degrees predicted but the good news so far is that cloud will be increasing on Boxing Day and there is a 90% chance of 1 to 5mm of rain falling.

Winds for all three days are expected to be reasonably low with the mornings expected to be the most windy points of the day but it will be picking up on Boxing Day.

Unfortunately for locals, Maximum temperatures are not expected to drop below 36 until at least December 29 so make sure residents that you and your pets are well hydrated.

These temperature predictions can change as weather forecasts always do and we’ll do our best to keep you updated by updating this story if the maximums rise or fall and if rain is coming or going.

Deni Speaks (13/12/16)

Over the last couple of weeks, DNS has asked visitors to this website two questions to see what locals think.

‘Does Deniliquin need a new Cinema?’

95% of voters said that Deniliquin does need a new Cinema after living through more than a decade without one in the town.

As it currently stands a local has to go to Echuca to enjoy the latest big screen release and whilst that means they can also just go down the road and pick up some KFC too it is around a 90 minute round trip which is the down side even if it is balanced with something tasty.

So if there is a business out there that is into cinemas, take a look at Deniliquin because we’re interested.

‘Should locals be closely informed about any major Hume Dam releases?’

92% of voters said that locals should be closely informed about any major Hume Dam releases.

This result is understandable after many felt that there was not enough information on what was coming down the river and it was left to others to find, post and alert residents on what was coming and how high it was going to be.

Conclusion

Deniliquin residents have stuck to the current trend of voting for something with a clear majority.

Deni Speaks will be back as soon as there is new questions put up and ran with for two weeks.

Summer playlist

So we’ve had a playlist about Rain this year when the rain kept tumbling down and we’ve had one with ‘Mud’ in the title and now that it is Summer and it is doing what summer does best, lets try putting together some music that has summer in the title.

We could have cheated and just put every Beach Boys song up and call it the playlist but we have to go for variety and hopefully we’ve delivered the right amount of mix.

From the 1950’s to recent years we think we got things covered for your entertainment and many of these songs are considered classics or songs that suit most moods.

Billy Thorpe’s ‘It’s Almost Summer’ has been included because firstly it is Billy Thorpe and secondly it does have ‘Summer’ in the title even if it is saying it’s almost summer when it actually now is summer.

Calvin Harris – Summer
Demi Lovato – Cool for the Summer
Bananarama – Cruel Summer
Daryl Braithwaite – One Summer
Belinda Carlisle – Summer Rain
Eddie Cochran – Summertime Blues
Grease – Summer Nights
Keith Urban – Long Hot Summer
Kid Rock – All Summer Long
Sherbet – Summer Love
Brad Paisley – Beat This Summer
The Ataris – The Boys of Summer
Billy Thorpe – It’s Almost Summer
Young Talent Team – Hot Summer Nights
Van Halen – Summer Nights

We finish this playlist with perhaps the greatest of all songs with the word ‘summer’ in it and that is Bryan Adams hit ‘Summer of ’69’.

Enjoy your Summer readers.
