What’s THAT?

Deniliquin has had bad luck when it comes to Pizza this year as the town started the year with three Pizza shops and for now only has one open due to fire temporarily taking out Green Pepper whilst Central Pizza & Pasta went down recently leaving Cressy Pizza as the only Pizza shop operational.

But there is something happening on the corner of Cressy Street and Hardinge Street, there’s a shop under wraps and the only thing people can see is a big sign that says two words ‘THAT’s Coming’, that sign is one that is getting the attention of anyone going by because it simply gives nothing away but causes people speculate and wonder what is behind the wrapping.

Could this shop that is kept under wraps be a new pizza shop and could it be the answer to specific Pizza eater prayers? It could also be something else that is being added to the local takeaway palate or it may not even be a takeaway store at all (that’s unlikely).

Regardless of what is going on, something new is cooking on that corner and we like the rest of the town can’t wait to find out what THAT is.

DNS returns to the fence

Three months ago, DNS wrote about the rubbish situation around the fences of Deniliquin Plaza.

The images taken by Dan Clark shocked many readers and it brought awareness to the problem that many cities and towns face around the world and that is the careless disposal of rubbish.

Today we have returned to the fences to how things are now and unfortunately readers the situation has not improved.

As you will see in the pictures below (taken once again by Dan Clark) the amount of rubbish appears to have increased as the fence line becomes the final destination for rubbish either dropped there or was blown around by the winds until the fences ensured it goes no further.

The rubbish is not of any one type for there is everything from McDonalds wrappers to UDL cans lining the fence waiting to be picked up and properly disposed of.

DNS has a petition on change.org that readers can sign by clicking on the link and using the Facebook login option to sign and if wanted share it with people.

We urge all readers to please put their rubbish in bins for it is the best outcome for the town and for the environment.

Cruising Cressy this Saturday Afternoon (Oct 22)

Saturday afternoon promises to be an interesting time for those who loves looking at or traveling in great vehicles as Cruising Cressy takes place outside Cafe 285 from 5pm.

As many people know, Deniliquin has a great range of fine, classic vehicles and hopefully those going by or participating will see many of them nicely parked and shiny too.

Bikes, Tractors and Trucks are also welcome so there will be a nice variety of vehicles for all to see.

The weather should be good for Saturday with a maximum temperature of 17 degrees and a bit of wind about which should not kill off the afternoon.

Further details such as pictures of past events can be seen at Donut Derelicts of Deniliquin which is a Facebook group that is open for people to join and has a steady amount of traffic.

Whilst on the topic of cars, many of DNS’s readers may remember back in the early 90’s a game called Street Rod where you buy classic cars and cruise around to various locations looking for races.

What many players of the classic games may not know is that a special edition was released where the names of all the cars were properly restored.

The great news for gamers is that Street Rod SE is free to download as well as the standard version and Street Rod 2, DOSbox will also be needed to make the game run and at a speed that isn’t comparable to warp speed.

DOSbox also has a Mac version so those with Macs can download DOSbox, download the PC version of Street Rod, drag the Street Rod exe file to the DOSbox one and then play.

So make Saturday a day of playing a classic with the classics and then see the real things outside Cafe 285 from 5pm.
