The Deni Pokemon Wrap (22/11/16)

Pokémon Go Deniliquin

Pokémon Go Deniliquin is back down to 183 members after a couple of weeks at 184 members.

The Group is the place to go when you want to know everything local about Pokémon Go though you might need to post to get things going after several weeks of no activity.

For those who want to see memes, stats and other news visit the Pokémon Go page that has almost over 2.9 million likes or this one that has 2.3 million likes and finally this one with 800,000 likes

It does appear that there will be new Pokemon and new rules in the offering for gamers who still play the game that briefly took the world by storm.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals are still making progress on Pokémon Shuffle.

As you know our two regular gamers Boony and Tiggy are racing each other on the mobile version of the game with both now sitting on Stage 190 and we will continue to follow the race as it progresses.

Tiggy has decided to chase Pokemon in the Special and Expert stages in order to try pass Stage 190 and make his way towards Stage 200 since Steelix is providing plenty of resistance.

Boony still has a massive lead on Tiggy when it comes to totals of Pokemon caught with Boony boasting a total of 195 Pokemon to Tiggy’s total of 168.

Pokemon Sun and Moon

Pokemon Sun and Moon is out now and they are considered to be ‘Ok’ early in the gaming journey.

We’ll have a fully report on the games as soon as the games have been given a good play.

We’ll be back next week with a new edition of The Deni Pokemon Wrap.

Winds of Change?

Deniliquin is situated in a place where nothing political really happens, elections come and go and the results are usually the same.

Federally the local area is held by the Liberals and state wise the area is held by the Nationals and has been that way for a long time with little chance of change.

But over in the seat of Orange, The Nationals seemingly carved in stone hold on that seat may come to an end as the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party have their noses in front thanks to preferences from Labor.

A Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party win would give them their first ever seat in NSW Parliament and could be a catalyst towards winning other rural seats in the state.

Many voters have stated that they were unhappy with the coalitions council mergers and the now cancelled ban on Greyhound Racing.

The council merger point is something we can relate to because we lost Deniliquin Council to merge with Conargo Shire to form the Edward River Council and that meant we lost the only council in the nation to serve just one town.

So what could all the above mean? It could mean that in the next NSW election our local seat may not be a safe place at all for the Nationals and when it is not safe it means pork barrelling happens because the Government will be desperate to hold it and the Opposition will be desperate to take it.

Perhaps we should start writing out our Political wish list to be ready in time for the elections.

The heat remains on

Deniliquin is now getting through the second of five days of temperatures that are expected to get over 30 degrees.

33.4 degrees was the highest the temperature got today (Friday November 18) and tomorrow is expected to be 32 degrees before it picks back up on Sunday to reach 35 degrees.

Monday will be the hottest day with 39 degrees expected, earlier predictions stated 40 degrees and so we will watch carefully to see if the prediction remains on track or is either upgraded or downgraded.

Tuesday is expected to be 28 degrees before it falls further to 25 degrees on Wednesday.

Winds will be relatively calm for all days except Monday when 22 to 27km/h winds are expected to blow through town.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all expected to get some kind of rainfall, with Monday and Tuesday leading the odds at 80% and 90% chance each.

DNS hopes all readers make sure that everyone around them and themselves are properly hydrated and don’t forget to regularly check pet water bowls to ensure your pets have water available to them.

Stay cool Deniliquin and remember the Swim Centre is open for those who like a good late afternoon and early evening swim.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals are still making progress on Pokémon Shuffle.

As you know our two regular gamers Boony and Tiggy are racing each other on the mobile version of the game with both making gains during the week to make it to Stage 189 and we will continue to follow the race as it progresses.

Boony still has a massive lead on Tiggy when it comes to totals of Pokemon caught with Boony boasting a total of 195 Pokemon to Tiggy’s total of 158.

A third local Pokemon Shuffle player is reportedly now up to Stage 190 which is inspiring to our players and we hope to find more players in the near future and have a weekly tally on who is where.

Pokemon Sun and Moon

The release of both Pokemon Sun and Moon is now just 3 days away from being able to be played in their entirety by Pokemon fans.

DNS will have a report on the games as soon as we’ve given the games a good play and it is safe to say that anticipation is high right now.

We’ll be back next week with a new edition of The Deni Pokemon Wrap.

Playground upgrade group established

A Facebook group dedicated on getting Edward River Council to upgrade the playground at Waring Gardens has been established.

A petition is currently on the drawing board and is expected to be readied for signing in the next few weeks.

Information is also being sought for example images of parks from other towns to compare to businesses that are willing to have a petition at their business ready for locals and visitors to sign.

The playground at Waring Gardens is the one being looked at as it is most central of all the playgrounds in town and it is also considered to be the most outdated therefore making it a great choice for upgrading.

If you would like to join the group or just check it out please click here, the group currently has a total of 239 members and this number should grow in the coming weeks.

DNS will continue to report on the progress of the petition as it comes to hand.
