Sports Talk (13/4/17)

April 13 2017

The season is now back in full swing and our local sides will be playing during this Easter period.

Netball

The Rams will be taking on Finley at home on Good Friday, all Netball teams are in action with the exception of the Under 17’s who get to put their feet up for Easter.

The Rovers are going over the border to face Yarroweyah on Saturday with the exception of C Reserve who just like the Rams Under 17’s get to stay home.

Yarroweyah for those who don’t know is about 8km to the west of Cobram, the population of the area according to the 2011 census is 528 people which makes it larger than places like Warragoon.

Online listings of games are notorious for listing teams playing at either the wrong times or being on the wrong courts so always be wary of that if you are checking them.

Football

All Rams Football sides are playing their games at home for the first time this season.

All Rovers Football sides are playing at Yarroweyah in their first away trip this season.

Thoughts

Rams fans will be happy the team is playing on home turf for the first time this year and will be looking to see how the Senior and Reserves Football sides respond from their heavy losses last week against Nathalia.

Rovers Football sides won three out of four against Blighty and they are hoping have similar results or better against Yarroweyah.

Rams Netballers will no doubt be hoping to repeat their success on the previous round whilst the Rovers Netballers will be hoping for a winning weekend after losing four of their seven games last week to Blighty.

Sports Talk will be back on Saturday night with all the results from the games.

April 6 2017

The long wait for Football and Netball action will be over on Saturday for the Rams, Rovers and their fans.

Netball

The Rams will be taking on Nathalia down at Nathalia Recreational Reserve, all Netball teams with the exception of C Reserve (Nathalia doesn’t have a C Reserve team) are in action.

The Rovers kick off their season at Memorial Park, C Reserve’s game will be one of interest after Blighty defeated the Rovers in the 2016 Grand Final 34 to 33.

All Rams Football sides are playing at Nathalia Recreational Reserve.

All Rovers Football sides are playing at Memorial Park.

Thoughts

This 2017 season promises to be an interesting one, as always the change of players and coaching staff in the off season makes it interesting to see how all the new lineups work together in Round 1 and beyond.

Sports Talk will be back on Saturday night with all the results from the games.

Sports Talk (23/3/17)

March 23 2017

This is our first edition of Sports Talk, our new sports preview and results guide.

Last year we ran ‘Rovers Talk’ and it was very successful as people read our previews on Thursday nights and the sports results on Saturday nights throughout the 2016 season.

This year is going to be different as we are going to cover the Rams results as well as the Rovers results as best as possible throughout the year.

The Rams are heading to Nathalia on April 8 to kick off the MFL and MNL season.

The Rovers are kicking off their season on the same day at Memorial Park against Blighty in the PDNFL.

It promises to be an interesting year of sport for Deniliquin’s teams and we will do our best to report on all the results as they come to hand.

We’ll be back on April 6 with previews of Round 1.
