Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals have finally made progress on Pokémon Shuffle.

Vivillon was finally defeated and so was Meditite on Stage 221 and Skitty on Stage 222 and now the challenge is overcoming Kirlia on Stage 223 using only 12 moves (more if you buy extra moves).

Defeating and catching Pokemon on Expert and Special Stages is still the current strategy in order to gain the Pokemon needed to advance through the main stages, todays ‘The Daily Pokemon’ is Lunatone and a reminder to players that the new ‘day’ occurs at 4pm our time.

Pokémon Shuffle is free on Nintendo’s eShop and Apple App Store and other locations.

We’ll be back next week with a new edition of The Deni Pokémon Wrap.

Moderate Flooding coming

The warning for the Edward River has gone up from Minor Flooding to Moderate Flooding and should be happening this Friday (September 30).

The projected height of 7.5m is still below the height of the towns levees so the town is relatively safe apart from places like the beach, houseboat pump, parts of the Island Sanctuary and Smart Street which are currently under water or are partly water covered as you can see in the picture taken by Dan Clark.

Meanwhile the Brick Klin Creek is flowing fast and it has caused three culverts to be closed and a fourth may be closed soon.

Deniliquin’s 1956 flood peak was 9.37m, 1975 was 9.04m and 1993’s flood 8.48m and so if the waters stop at 7.5m then it will be a fairly pleasing result considering the damage the past floods have caused.

Despite what’s going on with the river and the creeks, The message going out is that it is business as usual for the town as it gears up for the Ute Muster.

Visitors can come to town and stay at their accomodations knowing that everything is safe and secure thanks to the levees around town and is nothing getting in the way of visitors and locals reaching the Muster and enjoying everything there.

There is 20 to 40mm of rain forecasted for Wednesday and 10mm to 20mm for Thursday and when it is Muster time patrons may get a little wet on Friday but Saturday will be mostly sunny so it will not be a total Woodstock (or UteStock as we dub it).

Workers have been hard at work drying the site so there’s a good chance it will be pretty good by the time the crowds come.

Everyone is reminded to stay away from the flood waters, There is no need to drive through anywhere that has been flooded and there is also no need to stand in the water to take pictures or fool around as the moving water could knock you over and put you in danger.

Warnings can be found on the ABC Riverina page located here if anyone wants to check the latest warnings or seek assurance that all will be well, The latest on the river height can also be checked here

EDIT: Deniliquin Riverside Caravan Park has had to cancel all bookings for the lower section of the Park, The upper section is considered not at risk at this present time.

Rovers Talk (23/9/16)

We are back with a new edition of Rovers Talk, The reason why we are writing this edition early is because there is a few news items to write about.

Firstly, The Rovers need just 22 more likes to reach the 1,500 likes milestone on Facebook and so if you are a Rovers fan and haven’t liked the page yet, you can do by clicking here.

A whole lot of pictures have been posted from various Rovers events and so you can check out all the past fun whilst awaiting all the news and information as the club prepares for the 2017 season.

The next news piece is pretty big and the news is that the Rovers Netball teams need coaches and there are positions from A Grade all the way down to the Under 11’s available.

Applications can be submitted to Tenille Blake at deniroversnetball@hotmail.com and applications do close on the 26th of this month so get your application in really quickly, further information can be obtained by calling Tenille on 0458 041 234.

We don’t know if readers feel it but Spring and Summer can get pretty lonesome without Football and Netball competition, The two sports are 18 weeks of nervous waits as the ladder positions change hands fairly regularly and then the nervousness gets worse when finals kicks in and whilst you can be relieved after it all ends, you miss it two weeks later.

The next few weeks shouldn’t be too bad with the AFL Grand Final, Ute Muster, NRL Grand Final and Bathurst all in the next three weeks and then you got events like Cricket, Tennis and Basketball etc to tide us over.

We’ll be back time to time with more news and information as we get closer to 2017, Thank you for reading.

Deniliquin on YouTube

With all the rain coming down, It was a a good time to see what YouTube had on Deniliquin and so below is a sample of what was found.

The first video to look at takes a look at some of the scooter action at the skate park, The action is pretty good.

This next video is a ‘Deniliquin Nursing & Midwifery Career Clip’ and it’s really nicely done  and perhaps it will even entice people to work at the hospital.

Next up is a minute long TV commercial for Big4 Deniliquin and it showcases all the great things you can do there.

This one is interesting, There is no video per se but it is a song and it’s called ‘Road to Deniliquin’.

There was a documentary made on the 2012 Ute Muster and it is available below, It has a running time of 52 minutes and surprisingly it only has 80 views so perhaps we can do something about that.

There is a couple of videos online of the Cruising Nationals and this one features a XB Falcon in action.

For those who like Horse Racing, You can see a video of ‘First Saturday’ winning a race at the track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NCPfQH8YtU

There is also some high quality autocross action available to be seen as well.

Also online are videos of some of the going ons at various Ute Musters (This one may put off some tourists), DHS students in competition action, Grain Trains, Homes for sale, The Deniliquin Municipal Band, SightSee TV and plenty more.

Happy YouTube watching Readers.
