Whilst on the hunt for information about the latest flooding situation, DNS decided to type in Deniliquin and see what comes up.

Our attention was drawn to a Daily Mail article on the Ute Muster and lets just say whilst the story is very informative, the pictures really show the party side of the Ute Muster and there’s the chance some people in the photos and film may experience possible embarrassment (or temporary fame).

So we went on the internet and remembered Deniliquin History In Photos mentioning the BBC and so we dug up what they wrote and there is two articles with two different headings.

The wackiest country festival story is the detailed one as it does get into detail that only the BBC possibly could get into and the friendliest video just has a video, little wording and probably was a template for the ‘wackiest country festival’ story.

So there we have it readers, two different perspectives from two different sides of British media waiting for you to read, view and digest.

PS – Twitter also found another Ute Muster headline but lets just say what was found would see us labelled with a dirty phrase or two because while the Muster was the headline the story was suspected to be entirely something else starting with P (headline picture tells a thousand words).

DNS recorded it’s 20,000th site hit late Tuesday night and the achievement was met with a mixture of emotions.

There’s delight, amazement, jubilation, hunger for more, tiredness and many more emotions that go with 20,000 site hits which as many would know wasn’t on the cards for a long time.

The milestone is all thanks to the readers as they decide day after day to read what this humble news blog and Facebook page post every day.

Keeping the public news fed is no easy task but it is done by doing lots of things that end in ‘ing’ for example listening, reading, thinking, writing and hoping.

DNS’s future goal is to continue to report on the good, the sometimes bad and pushing for a brighter future for the town.

One aim is to go back to our origins a little bit and promote time to time environmental change by wheeling out once again our petition for our streets, parks and waterways to be cleaner and then figure out ways to turn the rubbish into something useful.

The petition didn’t get far in 2015 but we didn’t have our Facebook page and we sure didn’t have thousands of visitors to this blog either but hopefully it will work out better this time.

Also on the list is doing something like investigating what has to be done for the community to get a community centre back for our youth with the aim of giving our youth a 7 day a week option which could lead to people wanting to stick around after High School is done.

We also want to find out what people want, find out what planning ideas work and don’t work to get what is wanted and then support the people as it flies off into the public domain.

Also do stories on garden food growing and themes that go along with the subject.

The possibilities are endless, some stories will work and others will fail like Windows Vista  did in the publics mind but trying and learning from the results is the aim of all things.

So thank you for allowing us to have 20,000 site hits, we appreciate every single second of your time and hope to make the best of your time well into the future.

As the waters rise, so are the amount of great acts by people around us as we are put to the test by mother nature.

People are out filling sandbags day and night to protect businesses and property from floodwaters.

Businesses are delivering food to those who are busy filling in sandbags, those acts are always well received.

We’ve seen offers of homes and land to those who either don’t have a place to stay or need their animals moved to safer locations.

Council workers are out and about doing what is needed to be done from helping with sandbags to placing road closed signs at places where it is unsafe for cars to travel through.

People are passing along information online to make sure everybody is properly informed on the latest situations from river height to where volunteers are needed for sandbagging operations and more.

We’ve even read stories of people traveling to Deniliquin to assist friends and relatives with protecting their homes and businesses and more.

The floods are not over yet as the Edward is up to 8.24m and it is currently expected to get to around 8.60m by around the 15th (around is the offical terms used) before it recedes slowly to hopefully the rivers natural height.

After the floodwaters recede, people will be out again fixing damaged property, clearing roads, removing sandbags, removing the remains of animals that did not make it through the flooding and more and may those people be thanked again for their work.

We hope that the great acts are not spoiled by acts of the opposite kind for while many take the time to give during natural disasters of any scale, a few do take the time to take from those who are out doing good deeds.

Pokémon Go Deniliquin

Pokémon Go Deniliquin is still holding steady at 184 members.

The Group is the place to go when you want to know everything local about Pokémon Go.

Group activity has been quiet in the last three weeks so perhaps interest in the game has slowed down to the point of non existence.

For those who want to see memes, stats and other news visit the Pokémon Go page that has almost 2.82 million likes or this one that has 2.3 million likes.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals have continued to have made progress on Pokémon Shuffle and several others have joined in the fun too in the last week or so.

Our two regular gamers are doing well with one facing Mega Aerodactyl on Stage 180 and the other is on Stage 230.

Last weeks stumbling block Gothitelle was defeated at long last and that was quickly followed up by defeating Sliggoo on Stage 229 and now Medicham is awaiting defeat on Stage 230.
