A petition has been created urging Edward River Council to speed up their plans to keep the Deniliquin Cemetery looking in pristine condition.
As recorded over the last couple of months, volunteers had taken it upon themselves to clear the cemetery of weeds that surrounded graves leaving the cemetery in an appalling state as you can see in these linked photos.
Community Service has been reinstated after its controversial cancelling earlier but urgent action to combat the weeds is required now so that when Community Service does get to work they can handle tasks such as grave restoration instead of losing precious hours tackling weeds.
So far over 100 people have signed the petition and it is hoped that hundreds more will do so in the near future.
We will continue to record how the situation unfolds as it comes to hand.
