Deni Speaks (3/2/17)

Will the Coalition lose Farrer at the next election?

We achieved our first ever tie with this poll and while we only had a small sample of Farrer voters, this result has the potential to show that the Liberals once solid grip on Farrer may be loosening.

We will revisit the question in the future to see who is in the box seat for Farrer.

Is Edward River Council better than Deniliquin Council?

Mike Baird’s council mergers may of been unpopular in 2016 but it has gotten the curiosity of locals.

45% of voters have said it is too early to tell if the ERC is better than Deniliquin Council whilst 36% say it is better and just 18% say it is not.

We’ll look back at the issue in six months time to see if the totals shift for better or worse.

What is your favourite type of Takeaway food?

Voters have chosen McDonalds as their favourite type with 29% of the vote, Noodles and Pizza are equal second choice with 21% of the vote each.

This question may not be revisited unless there is a sudden shift in appetites across town.

Conclusion

Farrer may not be a Fortress for the Liberals anymore, Council mergers may turn out to be OK and McDonalds is King/Queen despite people around the world not loving it as much as they used to.

If you got a poll question, please leave a comment and we will post the question.

January 2017 Weather Report

Month recap

We are now halfway through the last day of January 2017 and Mother Nature has been kind enough to give us a day that is ten degrees cooler than yesterday.

42.9 Degrees was the hottest temperature for this month but it is not a record as January 23rd 2001 was a toasty 46 degrees.

Minimum Temperatures for this month up to today was 16.2 degrees which is .4 of a degree colder than long term averages.

The average Maximum Temperature up to today was 34.3 degrees which is 1.1 degrees warmer than the long term average.

26.2 mm of rain fell over five days this month, the long term average is 21.2mm and that is spread over 4.1 days, the January record for rainfall is 68.6mm in 2011.

What to possibly expect?

February on average is usually slightly cooler with Minimum Temperatures averages being 16.3 degrees and Maximum Temperatures averaging 31.9 degrees.

February usually has an average of 1.6 days over 40 degrees, 7.8 days over 35 degrees and 18.9 degrees over 30 degrees.

Average rainfall is 36.3mm over 5.1 days which is an increase on January numbers.

It will be interesting to see what will come next month.

The Deni Pokemon Wrap (31/1/17)

Pokémon Go Deniliquin

Pokémon Go Deniliquin is steady on 179 members and has no new posts since November 24.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals are still making progress on Pokémon Shuffle though it is getting harder to get somewhere.

As you know our two regular gamers Boony and Tiggy are racing each other on the mobile version of the game but have stalled in recent weeks with Boony up to Stage 192 and Tiggy has slowly moved up to Stage 214 and we will continue to follow the race as it progresses.

Stage 214 has the Psychic Pokemon Mime Jr as the challenge whilst Stage 192 has the Normal Pokemon Lickilicky.

Boony still has a narrow lead on Tiggy when it comes to totals of Pokemon caught with Boony boasting a total of 198 Pokemon to Tiggy’s total of 197 and it will be interesting to see who gets to 200 first.

We will be back next fortnight with a new edition of The Deni Pokemon Wrap.

We’re on the Backbench

This week is the first week in a very long time that the local area has no frontbencher in either State or Federal Parliament.

The reason why we no longer have a member on the front-bench when it comes to Federal Parliament is because as you know Sussan Ley screwed up by charging the taxpayer for trips instead of paying for it herself and she had to resign her position.

Meanwhile the NSW Government is gearing up for reelection in the future and the new Premier who is Gladys Berejiklian must have felt that Adrian Piccoli is not the man to be Education Minister and put somebody else into the position.

The strange thing about it all is that Mr Piccoli is considered to be well respected and his dumping was a surprise and tops off a bad six months in which he resigned being deputy leader of the Nationals after the Nationals lost the seat of Orange.

So that is the latest in the local political scene, it will be interesting to see if the local status of not having a minister affects how people will vote for the Coalition at State and Federal level.
