For the past six weeks, DNS has had the pleasure in reporting on the latest from Memorial Park as the Netball and Football teams played their games at home and away.
This week is different, The Rovers have the bye and so there is no Netball or Football analysis to do before the games and no scores to report on after the games but never fear because Rovers Talk always has something to talk about.
Netball
After six games, B Grade is the sole undefeated team amongst the Senior Grades and that is a fantastic achievement by the ladies, B Grade is one and a half wins on top of the ladder at this stage of the season.
C Grade and C Reserve are next up with 5-1 records after their six matches in their competitions, C Grade are running third in their competition and C Reserve are top of the ladder in their competition by four points.
A Grade have a 4-2 record after their six matches and are at this present time comfortably in the final five by one a half wins, their two losses have been by a combined total of eight goals which shows the A Grade side have been in it to win it every game of the season.
In the Juniors, The U/17’s side is currently sitting on top of the ladder in their competition thanks to their undefeated start to the season, The side is 1st when it comes to goals scored and second when it comes to the opposition scoring on them.
The U/15’s side has had it tough at times this season but they finished the six game run with a win to give them two wins from their six matches, whilst some may say 2-4 is not ideal it is however a win behind fifth place which is held by Strathmerton who also have a percentage margin of 17.34% on the Rovers.
The U/13’s side is sitting on top of their ladder at this moment with an undefeated start to the season, The side has a win in hand over second place Blighty ensuring that no matter what happens during the bye, the team will still be on top ready for Round 8.
Football
The Rovers Seniors are sitting second on the ladder with a 4-2 record, the side has picked up wins against Yarroweyah, Jerilderie, Strathmerton and Mathoura with their two losses being against Blighty and Picola United.
The Rovers Reserves are doing well with the side being undefeated after their six matches, Picola United are one win behind the Rovers and can replace the Rovers on top of the ladder providing they win on the weekend due to a superior percentage.
U/17’s enjoyed the perfect start to the season and like the Reserves are rewarded with being on top of the ladder, Second on the ladder Berrigan is a win behind but has played only five games and can get ahead of the Rovers should they win on the weekend due to superior percentage.
U/14’s are running third on the ladder with a 4-2 record and is one of three teams sitting on 16 competition points, the Rovers may drop to 4th after this weekends matches but should drop no further with Blighty in 5th place needing to both win and boost their percentage by just over 120% to pass the Rovers.
Thoughts
In many of the competitions, the competition is fierce so nothing can be taken for granted but the Rovers have done well so far this season and deserve their weekend off.
It will be interesting to see where the Rovers end up as the teams catch up to the amount of games the Rovers has played as the complexion of the season becomes clearer for we are getting closer to everyone playing each other once this season.
Rovers Talk will be back on Saturday as usual to talk about sport in some way, shape or form.
Go Rovers!
