The return of Tennis to the North?

Deniliquin North Tennis Courts are asking the town who wants to see their courts back in action and who would play there during the week.

It’s been a rough couple of years for the courts but a dedicated group are helping the courts and building fight the ravages of time until it is used by the masses once more.

Having the courts operational again would be a great thing for Deniliquin as players have a choice of where to play and plus it has great fitness and social value and those two are really important values.

Parked car hits are rising

Reports of parked cars being hit in town have risen in recent weeks and it is making locals really unhappy as you’ve probably seen in thumbs up/thumbs down groups recently.

Residents are urging each other to please take great care when moving through car parks, Drivers are also urged to please not drive off if they do hit another vehicle.

Social media reports are saying that drivers who have hit cars have made little or no attempt to make amends (swapping details or note of apology) which serves to anger people more.

Several near misses have also been reported as cars are leaving the supermarkets and other locations.

So please be careful out there drivers around Deniliquin and do the right thing if an accident does occur.

Rovers Talk (25/8/16)

The Preliminary Finals get underway this weekend and the equation is simple, A win gets a side into the Grand Final and a loss brings an end to a great season.

Below is all the information on who is playing and what happened the last time the teams met.

Under 17’s are taking on Strathmerton for the right to face Jerilderie in the Grand Final.

Last time they met: Under 17’s won their Round 14 game against Strathmerton 51 to 25.

Football

The Fourths are taking on Jerilderie in their Preliminary Final clash.

Last time they met: The Fourths lost their Round 13 game against Jerilderie 6.3 – 39 to 3.4 – 22.

Thoughts

There’s no certainties this week, It is the Preliminary Final and the sides haven’t played each other for quite some time so past dominance by any of the teams is now out the window.

Everything we’ve said over the last couple of weeks still applies, A team has to stay composed, A team has to work like a machine and each player must believe they can play their part in the game.

We hope that this weekends matches are played fairly, competitively and above all safely with no injuries to any side.

Rovers Talk will be back on Sunday with all the results and more.

The Deni Pokémon Wrap (23/8/16)

Pokémon Go Deniliquin

Pokémon Go Deniliquin now boasts 183 members which is down one member on last weeks total.

Pikachu, Pidgey, Bulbasaur and Charmander seem to be all the rage in town at the moment as they are the mostly commonly reported Pokémon locally.

The Group is the #1 place to go when you want to know everything local about Pokémon Go.

For those who want to see memes, stats and other news visit the Pokémon Go page that has almost 2.5 million likes.

Other Pokémon Games

It’s amazing that below is the majority of Pokémon games and apps out there for fans to play all on the latest Nintendo systems, Some do wish that Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Snap are on that list as they are classics but those in the know can always get the ROMs and emulators for those games.

Pokémon Omega Ruby
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
Pokémon X
Pokémon Y
Pokémon Red
Pokémon Blue
Pokémon Yellow
Pokémon Art Academy
Pokémon Trading Card Game
Pokémon Dream Radar
Pokedex 3D Pro
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
Pokémon Puzzle Challenge
Pokémon Link: Battle
Super Pokémon Rumble
Pokémon Shuffle
Pokémon Picross
Pokémon Rumble World
Pokémon Bank

Would somebody have all the above in their collection in Deniliquin? It would be an expensive task but some people would love the chance to own every game and every app there is out there.

Red, Blue and Yellow are available in the eShop for $13 apiece which isn’t bad considering an original cart of those games are $30 and up apiece.

Pokémon Shuffle News

Past and present locals have stalled on Pokémon Shuffle with last weeks mentioned players still on Level 213 and Level 168 respectively though progress has been made on 213 thanks to using game coins to get 5 additional moves.

As the game progresses it gets tougher so you’ll have to go through the motions of beating past levels again and again in order for your Pokémon to gain experience and then advance further.

Pokémon Shuffle is free on Nintendo’s eShop and Apple App Store and other locations.

We’ll be back next week with a new edition of The Deni Pokémon Wrap.

ERC looks for brand and logo

The Edward River Council is looking for a new brand and logo design.

There are several choices to choose from and while none have to do with a Cockatoo like the now gone Deniliquin Council had there is a Merino, The Sun, The River, Agriculture, and Environment to consider.

Voters have until 5pm Monday August 28 to pick the one that they want and to do that visit the ERC website and choose what you like or dislike from the ones you see in the pictures below.

The winning choice will be unveiled in October and will be visible for all to see over the next 12 months from then.

It will be interesting to see if the new name and colours will also mean lower rates, smoother roads, cleaner streets and more in the future to make this truly a new era for the area.
