Rovers Talk (3/9/16)

The Grand Final matches got underway this weekend in both Football and Netball competition and we have the results from those matches for you.

Netball

A Grade were defeated by Tocumwal 50 to 37.

C Reserves lost today to Blighty 34 to 33.

Under 17‘s went down to Jerilderie 37 to 24.

Under 13‘s fell to Strathmerton 28 to 23.

Football.

The Reserves tried hard but were no match for Picola United with Picola winning by 27 points.

The Rovers closed the margin to 9 points early in the last quarter before Picola powered home to win 9.13 – 67 to 6.4 – 40.

The Thirds 
are Premiers after defeating  Picola United by 31 points.

The Rovers kicked 9.6- 60 to Picola’s 4.5 – 29 in a match where the Rovers extended their lead at the end of each quarter.

R. Norris kicked 2 goals whilst B. Marchant, J. Sharp, L. Hay, R. Gazzara, J. Caniglia, J. Allitt and B. Sartore all kicked a goal in the win.

Thoughts

Congratulations to the Thirds on winning the Grand Final today.

Commiserations to the Rovers Reserves Football team and the A Grade, C Reserve, Under 17, Under 13 Netball teams, It wasn’t to be this year but everyone is proud of how you all played this season.

Congratulations to all teams in the PDNFL who won a Premiership today, For the next year every other team will envy you and will aspire to be you this time next year.

The 2016 season is now over and preparations for season 2017 will soon begin as the brains trust gets thinking over Spring and Summer on what is needed for next season.

After planning comes the hard slog as training gets underway followed by preseason games and then the 2017 regular season and we begin the journey once again to this point of the year.

This is the last regular edition of Rovers Talk for this year, Thank you for reading every Thursday and Saturday night for the last 22 weeks and we hope to see you next year.
