Rovers Talk (16/4/16)

The Rovers came out to play at home today and they’d shown it by displaying solid efforts with the Netball sides all grabbing wins whilst the Football sides had a mixed day.

A Grade were out to get the win after their loss to Blighty last week and they delivered with a seven goal win, the final score at the end of the game was 51 to 44.
This result gives them the ‘Meatloaf’ with the side winning two out of three and as the song goes ‘two out of three ain’t bad’.

B Grade had a day out after defeating their Picola United opponents by 25 with the final score reading 49 to 24.

C Grade won in similar fashion to A Grade with a win by a margin of seven, the final scores read 40 to 33.

C Reserve won their match by a margin of eight with the score at the end of the match reading 36 to 28.
The margin put them second in terms of victory margins by the Rovers Senior teams today.

The Juniors also had a very solid day and we have it all for you below.

The Under 17’s finished their game with a 17 goal win with the scoreboard reading 44 to 27 at the end and the result means they are three wins from three games.

The Under 15’s won by 11 goals with the score 30 to 19 at the end of the game, this was the 15’s first win of the 2016 season so congratulations to the team.

The Under 13’s won their game with the scores reading 35 to 13 giving the Rovers side a still unbeaten start to the season.

The Seniors were out looking for a win after their loss to Blighty yesterday and unfortunately they were beaten again today with the final scores Picola United 23.6 – 144 to the Rovers 10.8 – 68 with the margin 76 points.

T. Lumbar continued his good form with three goals, J Allit and S. Cuffe both kicked two goals and singles to M. Braybon, B. McCalman and A. Bodey

Highlight of the game for the Rovers Seniors was their second quarter in which they kicked 4.2 to Picola’s 4.0 to take the quarter by two points.

The Reserves are in good form and they have continued that way with a good win over their Picola United opponents, with the scores being 6.10 – 49 to 4.4 – 28.
The Reserves were down by five points at quarter time, ahead by two at half time, ahead by ten at three quarter time before winning by 18.

Goal kickers for the Rovers were J. Bode with three goals, L. Fleming kicked two and J. Thorpe with one.

U/17’s won their game by 63 points with the scores at the final siren reading 11.13 – 79 to 2.4 – 16, it was close at half time with the margin just ten points between them before the Rovers kicked 8.6 to 0.1 in the second half to win the game.

B. Sartore and D. Kirby 2 kicked four and two goals apiece with B. Purtill, A. Simpson, R. Norris, J. Allitt and J. Caniglia all kicking one goal each.

U/14’s had a more tighter contest than the U/17’s with the Rovers eventually winning by 22 points, the final scores were 11.9 – 75 to 8.5 – 53.

T. Chandler and T. McDonnell both kicked two goals apiece with A. Bermingham, B. Thomson, H. Mowat, J. Woodcock, J. Ezard and J. Liu all kicking one goal apiece.

A great day for the Deniliquin Rovers with nine wins out of ten for the Club when combining Netball and Football results together.

Congratulations once again to the U/15 Netball team for winning their first game of the 2016 season, no doubt the first of many this year.

Rovers Seniors are no doubt disappointed in losing two games in a row in Football but they live to fight another day and will give it their all to win against Jerilderie on their turf next week.
