Deniliquin readies for New Year

Today the shops of Deniliquin were busy as residents were snapping up food and drink of all kinds as they prepare to send off 2015 and welcome 2016.

One supermarket was reported to have been ‘sooo busy’ and the pubs around town are expecting big business as townspeople seek to get the best possible fun out of their night.

New Years Day is expected to be one that few will remember for some house parties enter the realm of being ‘epic’ and in order to be epic a certain level of forgetfulness is required, this is usually achieved by having lots of drink and lots more music.

DNS will report on the aftermath of some of the celebrations as news comes to hand.

Heat expected for Christmas

It will be an not unusually warm Christmas for Deniliquin as it is expected to reach 34 degrees on the big day.

Those who are going outdoors for Christmas may need to take advantage of any shade and the Waring Gardens provides plenty of shade and as you can see in our picture, the Waring Gardens is looking spectacular at this time of year.

There is potentially bad news especially for those who like to get some Cricket in on Boxing Day for is rain expected on the day therefore plan for some rain delays between all the backyard or river action.

The weather is expected to heat back up with an expected 36 degrees on December 30.

Market stall pushed back

Bad news for those wanting to see the TAFE students in action at the market in the Waring Gardens for the stall has been pushed back until December.

As you can see in the pictures below, the students are amassing a large amount of flowers, herbs and veggies to satisfy the desires of market visitors when it finally gets underway.

TAFE is officially over for most of the Cert 1 students though a small group will remain as part of the SEE program, DNS hopes that they will continue to maintain the gardens until the market happens and some students really do hope the stall happens after so much time and expense has gone into the garden.

DNS will report on the garden’s fate as soon as word arrives.
