Rovers Talk (28/4/16)

This weekend sees the Rovers take on Strathmerton at Memorial Park in what promises to be an action packed day of sport with most of the two sides running close to each other on the ladders of each competition.

Netball

The Rovers A Grade side are looking to win their game against Strathmerton after last weeks close loss to Jerilderie, a win will deliver Strathmerton their first loss of the season and put the Rovers at 3-2 for the season and once again give them ‘The Meatloaf’ with two wins from their last three games.

B Grade are aiming for their fifth straight win of the season to remain undefeated and they take on a side that is on top of the ladder (three wins plus a bye) setting up a First vs Second clash which will no doubt be a fascinating contest.

C Grade are aiming to go for their fifth win in a row and remain undefeated as they take on the similarly undefeated Strathmerton side, the winner of the match stands to be on top of the ladder with a healthy percentage lead over Tocumwal who is also undefeated at this time.

C Res ate their Meatloaf last week and will be aiming to make it three wins in a row in their Second vs Sixth on the ladder clash, a win should keep them second on the ladder with Blighty comfortably ahead on percentage and are expected to defeat Yarroweyah who are having a tough season.

For the Juniors, The undefeated U/17’s are taking on the fourth place Strathmerton side who are currently 2-1 for the season and are in a three way points tie with Jerilderie and Tocumwal which is a situation they would be eager to get on top of.

The U/15’s side (1-3) are running sixth on the ladder and they’ll be taking on the fifth place Strathmerton side in a game the Rovers side is very eager to win and grab their second win of the season.

The U/13’s are looking to keep their undefeated run alive when they take on the third place Strathmerton side, Strathmerton currently have a 2-1 record and is looking to keep pace with the Rovers who are a game clear of Strathmerton whist Blighty and Tocumwal are equal on points with Strathmerton and a Rovers win would be beneficial for both sides.

Football

The Rovers Seniors (5th with a 2-2 record) had a nice win last week over Jerilderie and in the process broke their two game losing streak, A win over Strathmerton (4th with a 2-1 record) would give them two wins in a row for the first time this season, leapfrog over Strathmerton and give the side a very important confidence boost.

The Rovers Reserves (1st with a 4-0 record) had a massive win over Jerilderie last week and are hoping to do the same against Strathmerton opponents who are sixth with a 1-2 record.

The Under 17’s are top of the ladder (4-0) and are a game clear of all sides that have played the same amount of matches as well as those who have had a bye so far this season, they take on sixth place Strathmerton who are 1-2 so far this season.

The Under 14’s are running third with a 3-1 record and take on the fourth place Strathmerton side who have a 2-1 record, the U/14’s had their first loss of the season last week and will no doubt be striving to get back on the winners list at the end of the day.

Weather and News

There is rain predicted to fall tomorrow (Friday) and on Game Day so conditions could be different to what most if not all sides are accustomed to so far this season and so the Netball sides may have to be careful on the playing surface whilst Footballers may have to play slower, tougher, harder to score and energy taxing Football in the wet.

After the games, stick around or quickly go home and return by 6pm for two very important events, the first is important especially if you are a member because the Membership Draw is on at around 6:10pm and there is $200 on the line for one lucky member but you got to be there to win it.

The second important event is the Mystery Function at 6:30pm and as we all know Rovers functions are very good and this function should be no different, just remember it’s free to enter, The dress code is relaxed (wearing something tasteful is a minimum) drinks are at Bar prices, Good food is served and there is prizes, dancing and more, check the Rovers page for further details.

DNS hopes that all Rovers sides have a great game against their Strathmerton opponents and may everyone come through the matches without injury and may they also have a great time at the Mystery Function with their fans.
