Rovers Talk (9/7/16)

Round 14 of the Football and Netball competition got underway today with the Rovers taking on Strathmerton at Strathmerton.

Netball

A Grade‘s four game winning streak has come to an end after the side played out their second draw of the season, the score at the end of the game was 49 apiece.

B Grade‘s winning streak has ended after being defeated in a high scoring match 67 to 50

C Grade‘s winning streak has come to an end after being defeated 34 to 29.

C Reserve have notched up another win with a solid 46 to 31 victory

The Junior sides played well against their opponents today and below are the results of their games.

The Under 17’s are back on the winners list with a massive 51 to 25 win.

The Under 15’s are also back on the winners list with a tight 20 to 17 win that keeps the Rovers in the finals race.

The Under 13’s have kept their winning streak going by winning their match 29 to 24.

Football

Rovers Football sides were in action against their opponents with success finding most of the Rovers teams.

The Seniors were defeated in their game today by a hungry Strathmerton side, Strathmerton kept the Rovers goalless in the first half to ensure their seventy point victory.

The final scores for the match was Strathmerton 13.10 – 88 to 2.6 – 18.

The Reserves have made it two wins in a row with a comfortable 38 point win.

The Rovers kicked 9.2 – 56 to Strathmerton’s 3.0 – 18 in a game where the Rovers won every quarter to accomplish their win.

D. Kirby kicked 4 goals and A. Hogan kicked 2 whilst K. Shephard, J. Bode and B. Hardman all kicked a goal in the win.

The Thirds recorded a solid 54 point win today with the final scores reading Rovers 8.12 – 60 to Strathmerton 1.0 – 6.

D. Kirby kicked two for the Rovers whilst R. Gazzara, R. Norris, R. Murray, T. Bradford, J. Allitt and J. Campbell all kicked one goal apiece in the win.

The Fourths were no match for Strathmerton today with the Rovers going down 8.8 – 56 to 0.2 – 2.

J. Liu, C. Jacobsen, R. Murphy, L. Bassett, T. Blake and B. East were named as the Rovers best players in the loss.

Thoughts

It was a winning day for the Rovers with the club recording six wins, four losses and one draw from it’s matches against Strathmerton.

Rovers Talk (7/7/16)

Round 14 of the Football and Netball season is coming up this weekend with the Rovers going on the road to take on Strathmerton.

The Rovers and Strathmerton last met in Round 5 of the competition with the Rovers winning the majority of the Football and Netball matches between the two sides.

Netball

A Grade go into their match with an 8-2-1 record and will be against a Strathmerton side that is are looking like being contenders when the finals arrive.

Last time they met: A Grade won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 60 to 47.

B Grade are sitting on top of the ladder with a 12-0 record and are taking on a side that is sitting in second position with a 7-2-2 record.

Last time they met: B Grade won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 47 to 36.

C Grade are sitting on top of the C Grade ladder with a 10-2 record and they will take on a side that is sitting in third position with a 9-2 record.

Last time they met: C Grade lost their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 47 to 24.

C Reserve are sitting in second spot on the ladder with a 10-2 record whilst their opposition are currently sitting outside of the finals positions.

Last time they met: C Reserve won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 33 to 22.

Under 17‘s are now 11-1 for the season and they are taking on a side that is sitting in fourth position with a 6-5 record.

Last time they met: Under 17’s won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 39 to 25.

Under 15‘s are now 6-6 for the season whilst Strathmerton currently occupy fourth spot on the ladder with a 7-4 record.

Last time they met: Under 15’s lost their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 32 to 28

Under 13‘s are on top of the ladder with a 12-0 record and they are taking on a third position with a 7-4 record.

Last time they met: Under 13’s won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 32 to 18.

Football

Rovers Seniors are sitting in third position on the ladder with an 8-4 record and they take on a Strathmerton side who are currently second on the ladder with an 8-3 record .

Last time they met: Seniors won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 11.11 – 77 to 2.12 – 24.

Rovers Reserves are second on the ladder with an 11-1 record and they take on fourth placed side that has a 6-5 record.

Last time they met: Reserves won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 16.9 – 105 to 1.1 – 7.

The Thirds are on top of the competition ladder with an 11-0-1 record and are against a side that is sitting in fourth with a 7-4 record.

Last time they met: The Thirds won their Round 5 match against Strathmerton 12.10 -82 to 6.7 -43.

The Fourths are sitting fourth on the ladder with an 8-4 record and are against a Strathmerton side that is sitting on top of the ladder with a 10-1 record.

Last time they met: The Fourths lost their Round 5 match against Strathmerton  6.5 – 41 to 5.4 – 34.

Thoughts

Both sides have strong teams throughout the competition so results can go either way in several of the matches which will make it exciting for the fans in attendance.

Rovers Talk (2/7/16)

Round 13 of the Football and Netball competition got underway today with the Rovers taking on Jerilderie at Memorial Park.

Netball

A Grade won their fourth game in a row with a comfortable 63 to 47 win.

B Grade‘s winning streak has continued after the side recorded a 37 to 31 win.

C Grade have recorded their fourth win in a row after defeating their opponents 51 to 44

C Reserve made it four from four for the senior teams with a 47 to 15 win.

The Junior sides played well against their opponents today and below are the results of their games.

The Under 17’s undefeated season has ended after Jerilderie pipped them by one goal, the final scores were Jerilderie 34 to Rovers 33.

The Under 15’s four game winning streak ended today, Jerilderie won the game 40 to 24.

The Under 13’s have kept their winning streak going by defeating their opponents 36 to 9.

Football

Rovers Football sides were in action against their opponents with success finding most of the Rovers teams.

The Seniors were demolished by Picola United to the tune of 95 points and they redeemed themselves this week in the finest possible way by defeating Jerilderie by 122 points.

The Rovers kicked four in the first quarter, four in the second quarter, eight in the third quarter and five in the last quarter to win 21.16 – 142 to 2.8 – 20.

T. Lumbar kicked 5, M. Horne got himself 4 goals, D. East 3 and D. May kicked three goals apiece, D. Hope kicked 2 whilst J. Campbell, J. Gilligan, S. Cuffe and R. McCulloch all kicked one goal apiece in the win.

The Reserves are back on the winners list with a massive 140 point win.

The Rovers kicked twenty-one goals in their win with four goals in the first, eight in the second, five in the third and four in the final quarter to record the 21.14 – 140 to 0.0 – 0 win.

D. Kirby booted 9 in a superb effort, K. Shephard, N. Aldorki, J. Mercer and L. Fleming all kicked two apiece whilst A. Goodear, J. Thorpe, G. Trewhitt and J. Parsons all kicked one goal apiece in the win.

The Thirds and Jerilderie fought out a draw in their match today, The Rovers lead by two points at Three Quarter Time but were outscored 0.2 to 0.0 in the last quarter to leave the game drawn at 3.4 – 22 each at the final siren.

J. Caniglia, J. Allitt and R. Norris all kicked one goal apiece in the draw for the Rovers.

The Fourths four game winning streak has come to an end at the hands of their opponents, Jerilderie got out to a nineteen point lead at Quarter Time and whilst the Rovers got it down to eight at Half Time, Jerilderie were too good in the second half and won the game 6.3 – 39 to 3.4 – 22.

H. Gardiner, K. Joss and J. Woodcock all kicked one goal apiece in the loss for the Rovers.

Thoughts

There were some great games between the two teams and there were some blowouts achieved by both sides though overall it was a successful day for the Rovers as they won the majority of the matches.

Next week is an away trip to Strathmerton and it will be another series of matches that will shape the season for several Rovers teams as all sides strive to make the finals.

Rovers Talk (30/6/16)

Round 13 of the Football and Netball season is coming up this weekend with the Rovers sides hosting Jerilderie at Memorial Park.

The Rovers and Jerilderie last met in Round 4 of the competitions with the Rovers winning the majority of the Football and Netball matches between the two sides.

Netball

A Grade go into their match with a 7-2-1 record and are currently three wins inside the five against a Jerilderie side that is fighting to be one of the sides in the finals come August 13.

Last time they met: A Grade lost their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 49 to 47.

B Grade are sitting on top of the ladder with an 11-0 record and are taking on a Jerilderie side that is sitting in fifth spot with a 5-5 record.

Last time they met: B Grade won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 43 to 39.

C Grade are sitting on top of the C Grade ladder with a 9-2 record and they will take on a Jerilderie side that is sitting in sixth position with a 5-4-1 record.

Last time they met: C Grade won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 42 to 32.

C Reserve are sitting in second spot on the ladder with a 9-2 record whilst Jerilderie are sitting in sixth position on the ladder.

Last time they met: C Reserve won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 28 to 22.

Under 17‘s are now 11-0 for the season and they are taking on a Jerilderie side that is sitting in second position with a 9-1 record.

Last time they met: Under 17’s won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 37 to 29.

Under 15‘s are now 6-5 for the season and are currently just out of the Top 5 on percentage, Jerilderie currently occupy top spot on the ladder with a 9-1 record.

Last time they met: Under 15’s lost their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 28 to 11.

Under 13‘s are on top of the ladder with an 11-0 record and they are taking on a Jerilderie side that is sitting in eighth position with a 2-8 record.

Last time they met: Under 13’s won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 34 to 5.

Football

Rovers Seniors are sitting in fourth position on the ladder with a 7-4 record and they take on a Jerilderie side that is sitting seventh on the ladder with a 3-7 record.

Last time they met: Seniors won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 14.16 – 100 to 4.8 – 32.

Rovers Reserves are second on the ladder with a 10-1 record and they take on eighth place Jerilderie who have a 1-9 record.

Last time they met: Reserves won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 20.13 – 133 to 0.4 – 4.

The Thirds are on top of the competition ladder with an 11-0 record against a Jerilderie side that is sitting in third with a 6-4 record.

Last time they met: The Thirds’s won their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 7.6 – 48 to 4.4 – 28.

The Fourths are sitting third on the ladder with an 8-3 record and are against a Jerilderie side that is sitting in second position on the ladder with a 9-1 record.

Last time they met: The Fourths lost their Round 4 match against Jerilderie 6.10 – 46 to 2.0 – 12.

Thoughts

Both sides have strong teams throughout the competition so results can go either way in several of the matches.

Rovers Talk (25/6/16)

Round 12 of the Football and Netball competitions got underway today with the Rovers taking on Picola United at Picola.

Netball

A Grade won their fourth game in a row with a comfortable 49 to 32 win over their Picola United opponents.

B Grade‘s winning streak has continued after the side recorded a 48 to 33 win over their Picola United opponents.

C Grade have recorded their third win in a row after defeating their Picola United opponents in a close one, the final scores were Rovers 40 to Picola United 38. 

C Reserve made it four from four for the senior teams with a 38 to 30 win over their Picola United opponents.  

The Junior sides played very well against their Picola United opponents and below are the results of their games.

The Under 17’s have delivered Picola United a heavy loss by winning their clash 66 to 21, the win maintains the Rovers undefeated season so far.

The Under 15’s have made it four in a row with a 21 to 11 win over their Picola United opponents.

The Under 13’s have kept their winning streak going by defeating their Picola United opponents 25 to 16.

Football

Rovers Football sides were in action against their Picola United opponents with success finding most of the Rovers teams.

The Seniors had a tough day with Picola United winning their game by 95 points.

The Rovers tried hard but had no answers against a Picola United side that led by 30 points at Quarter Time, 49 at Half Time, 70 at Three Quarter Time and the final siren sounded for a 95 point win to Picola United, the final scores were 18.15 – 123 to 4.4 – 28.

T. Lumbar kicked two whilst A. Hogan and A. May kicked a goal apiece for the Rovers.

The Reserves winning streak is over after a narrow six point loss to Picola United.

It was a tight game throughout with the Rovers 7 point lead at three quarter time being the biggest break lead before Picola United kicked 2.2 to 0.1 in the final quarter to win the match 5.5 – 35 to the Rovers 4.5 – 29.

D. Kirby kicked two goals whilst B. Ezard and M. Johnson both kicked a goal each or the Rovers.

The Thirds have continued on with their undefeated start to the season by defeating their Picola United opponents by 33 points.

The Thirds had a narrow four point lead at Quarter Time before Picola United outscored the Rovers to lead by two points at Half Time, The Rovers then kept Picola United scoreless after Half Time to win 7.10 – 52 to Picola United’s 3.1 – 19.

R. Norris kicked three whilst R. Gazzara, R. Murray, D. Kirby and B. Sartore all kicked a goal in the win

The Fourths have made it four wins in a row by keeping their Picola United opponents scoreless for three quarters of the match to record a 11.13 – 79 to 2.2 – 14 win.

The Rovers led by 26 at Quarter Time, 36 at Half Time and 65 at Three Quarter Time before the Rovers and Picola United kicked 2.2 each in the last to make the final margin between the two sides remain at 65 points.

T. McDonnell kicked 3 and B. Redden kicked 2 whilst K. Joss, T. Blake, B. East, J. Liu, R. Murphy and J. Ezard all kicked one goal apiece in the win.

Thoughts

Good results overall for the Rovers with the majority of its Football and Netball sides winning today.

The Seniors had a very tough day on the football field but they will learn from the game and continue on with their so far solid season.

The Rovers host Jerilderie next week and Rovers Talk will be back on Thursday to give all the pre game views before publishing results on Saturday night.
